Newsletter: Pandemic H1N1 Update - October 22, 2009 [PDF]
April 28, 2009
As of 8:00 AM, April 28, 2009 there have been no reported cases of the Swine Flu in Los Angeles County. This will most likely change as several people with flu-like symptoms are being tested at this time.
The flu virus is not spreading at a rapid rate but is being closely monitored by health officials. Currently L.A. County Public Health does not see this flu outbreak as posing any more of a threat to the public than a normal flu season would. Health Services are only treating patients with laboratory confirmed cases of the Swine Flu with antiviral drugs such as Tamiflu.
There several steps you can take to minimize the risk of getting or spreading the flu which are listed below:
Flu Prevention Guide Lines
- Wash hands often
- Avoid touching eyes, mouth & nose
- Cover mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing
- Disinfect common work surfaces
- Phones
- Keyboards and mice
- Counter tops
- Door knobs
- Faucets
- Avoid close contact with people displaying flu-like symptoms
- If you are in a job position that must have close contact with a sick person, consider placing a mask on that person
- If you are sick, stay home
- Once again... Wash hands often
